The Academic Psychology Section is part of the Centre for Environmental and Preventive Medicine (CEPM) within the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine. The Section is based at 55 Philpot Street on the Whitechapel campus. It contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching (Psychology, Brain & Behaviour, Personal and Professional Development, and Communication Skills courses) on the Medical and Dental School's MBBS and BDS degree programmes.

The section has particular research interests in tobacco dependence and its treatment, and in weight management; it hosts the Tobacco Dependence Research Unit .
