BOUCHE

Centre for Cancer Prevention

Project Investigator:  Dr Karly Louie

Overview

The epidemiology of oral Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is not well understood.

The purpose of the BOUCHE Study is to identify the best oral (mouth) sampling test for detection of oral HPV infection and what lifestyle and health behaviours (e.g. smoking and sexual behaviour) maybe associated with having HPV infection in the mouth.

Results from this research will help identify the best way to detect HPV infection in the mouth so that in the future we could better understand any potential oral health risks (e.g. HPV-related head and neck cancers).
