Audit of HPV immunisation programme

Centre for Cancer Prevention

Project Investigator:  Dr Karly Louie

Overview

Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination will not eliminate the need for cervical screening in both vaccinated and non-vaccinated women albeit at different screening intervals. Accurate data will be needed to direct, modify, and rationalise changes in cervical cancer prevention strategies in the future. If adequate monitoring and surveillance systems are in place, then the system will be prepared to measure vaccine effectiveness but it is unknown whether the girl’s HPV vaccine history is accurate and complete.

The aim of the Audit is to map the overall processes in place for the HPV immunisation programme in England in order to understand the strengths and challenges of the programme in the context of school delivery, HPV vaccination data recording and reporting.
