Teaching

The Centre for Psychiatry aims to provide world-class, culturally-informed academic programmes in Mental Health, and offers a range of postgraduate courses in at Master’s and Doctorate level. The courses represent the range of research interests within the Centre, and share a focus on the importance of cultural and psychosocial factors in the determinants of mental wellbeing. The teaching components of each course are designed to fit around the busy schedules of those with existing careers in mental health professions, and most programmes are also available in distance learning format for those who are unable to travel to us at the Charterhouse Square campus. Lectures are taught by a combination of course staff and clinicians and researchers with either national or global recognition in their fields of expertise.

We currently offer four pathways at Master’s level: in Psychological Therapies; Cultural and Global Perspectives in Mental Healthcare; Forensic Mental Health; and Creative Arts and Mental Health.
