Profile

I am currently a Cancer Research UK Postdoctoral Fellow investigating decision-making in breast cancer prevention. I am particularly interested in the uptake of breast cancer chemoprevention using hormonal agents. The mentors on my fellowship are Professor Jack Cuzick (QMUL) and Professor Jane Wardle (UCL).

My academic background is in behavioural science and health psychology. My PhD thesis investigated the potential of 'gist-based' information to promote colorectal cancer screening uptake among low literacy groups. My studentship was funded by the Medical Research Council and was supervised by Professor Jane Wardle and Dr Christian von Wagner at the Cancer Research UK Health Behaviour Research Centre.

After my doctoral studies, I was awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship to continue my research interests in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois. Under the supervision of Professor Michael Wolf, the focus of my research was using existing data to establish the effect of health literacy and patient activation on patient outcomes.
