Profile

Emma Atakpa is a PhD student working on a Cancer Research UK funded project with Professor Jack Cuzick and Dr Adam Brentnall entitled 'Mammographic density in digital mammograms'.

The research explores mammographic density as a risk factor for breast cancer and aims to develop an effective method of measuring mammographic density from digital mammogram images.

Prior to joining Queen Mary, Emma completed her integrated Masters Degree in Mathematics with Economics at the University of Sussex in 2013. Her Masters thesis focused on mathematical modelling and numerical simulations of virus-induced autoimmunity.
