Profile

Stefan Priebe

Dr Kallis has expertise in development and validation of screening tools as evidenced by his MSc in Statistics dissertation at the Department of Statistics, University of Warwick with title "Risk scores for reconviction: Validation and improvement of the Home Office's OGRS score".

He extended his research in this area of Statistics in his PhD in Statistics thesis at the Department of Statistics, University of Warwick with title "Construction and assessment of risk models in medicine". This research included methodological assessment of predictive models and development of screening models for abdominal aortic aneurism and diabetic retinopathy using large databases.

Since his appointment as Senior Lecturer in Medical Statistics at Queen Mary University of London in June 2010, he worked on assessing predictive accuracy of well-established risk instruments (such as OGRS and VRAG) for violence available for Prisoner Cohort Study (PCS) cases.

He identified subgroups where well-established risk instruments mentioned above are not sufficiently accurate for predicting violence. He recently developed static risk instruments for minor and major violence that outperform OGRS and VRAG for the complete cohort and for several subgroups in PCS.
